AIA Iowa Opportunities


 AIA Iowa Design for Aging Knowledge Community

Who: AIA Iowa Members

Mission: The mission of the DFA is to foster design innovation
and disseminate knowledge necessary to enhance the built
environment and quality of life for an aging society.
This includes relevant research on characteristics,
planning, and costs associated with innovative design for aging.

Get Involved: join us at the Iowa Center for Architecture on
Thursday, March 3 at 11: 30 a.m.

Diversity Committee Seeking Members

Who: AIA Iowa Members

Mission: To explore and address issues in diversity within the
Iowa architectural community, and to make recommendations
and assist in the development of programs that foster and
sustain cultural breadth and inclusion.

AIA Iowa Members
Time Commitment: Monthly Meetings and Involvement in Committee Initiatives.
The Committee meets the second Tuesday of each month. 
Initiatives: Citizen Architect Program, Speakers Bureau,
Architecture Month (April), Committee & Program Communication,
IowaArchitecture.org, Media Relations, Photography Salon.

 AIA Iowa Allied Member Social Committee Seeking Members

Who: AIA Iowa Allied Members

Time Commitment: Quarterly meetings and socials,
assist in planning for AIA Iowa Allied Member Socials

Disaster Assistance Committee Seeking Members and/or
State of Iowa Regional Chairperson

Who: AIA Iowa Members

Requirements: Be a certified volunteer by having gone through
the AIA Disaster Assistance Training and having the SAP badge. 

Time Commitment: Members can take on a minor or more serious role as desired. 
The Committee meets as needed usually via email several times per year. 
Responsibilities: Help to develop the program to the next level with the
State Fire Marshall's office, Emergency Managers and Homeland Security.
