Danielle Hermann, AIA, Receives 2017 National AIA Award

Hermann named 2017 AIA Young Architect

Des Moines, Iowa (February 24, 2017) – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has announced Danielle Hermann, AIA, an architect and Associate Principal with OPN Architects, in Des Moines, Iowa, as a recipient of the 2017 AIA Young Architects Award. This national award recognizes individuals who have shown exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the profession early in their architectural careers. Hermann will be presented the Young Architects Award at the 2017 AIA Conference on Architecture in Orlando, Florida, along with other recipients from around the country.

Danielle Hermann, AIA is a graduate from Iowa State University where she received a Bachelor of Architecture in 2001 and a Masters of Architecture in 2008. In the last five years, Hermann has led design work for some of the most influential corporations in Des Moines, reshaping the downtown urban core for nearly 6,500 workers by overseeing nearly $550 million worth of work and 1.5 million square feet of renovated or newly constructed office and public space.

She has worked on many prominent Des Moines projects such as the Krause Gateway Center, Principal, Salisbury House restoration and Hoyt Sherman Place Theater restoration Hermann currently serves on the AIA Iowa Board of Directors as 2nd Vice President. The AIA notes “Always willing to listen, offer a critical thought, and then dig in to find a compelling solution, Hermann is a tireless champion for the design community.
