Iowa Architect Magazine Welcomes New Editorial Board

Des Moines, IA – July 27, 2015 – The American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter, announces the selection of new members of the Editorial Board of Directors for their award winning publication, Iowa Architect magazine. Iowa Architect celebrates its 60th anniversary this year and has recently made their digital version free and available to the public through 

Jessica Terrill, AIA

Terrill is an architect practicing in Des Moines, Iowa where she has been a collaborator on a number of projects recognized for design excellence at both a state and regional level.
With Substance Architecture since 2007, she has contributed to a broad spectrum of private and public sector work, including the installation of significant public art pieces by artist Jun Kaneko along the Principal Riverwalk.

Jessica has served on Iowa Architect’s editorial board since 2008.

Jessica earned her undergraduate and professional graduate degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Isaac Bracher, AIA
Associate Editor

Isaac was educated at Ball State University, where he received a Bachelor of Architecture degree. In his over ten years of practice, Isaac has assembled a diverse portfolio of award-winning projects, ranging from small-scale historic preservation commissions to large, contemporary office buildings. He is currently a project architect with OPN Architects in Des Moines, Iowa. 




 Anna Schwennsen Jones, Assoc. AIA

Associate Editor

Jones is a graduate of Iowa State University and an Associate Architect at Substance Architecture in Des Moines, Iowa. At Substance, she is involved in a variety of private and public sector building types including commercial spaces, corporate office interiors, and higher education facilities. She has been a member of the Iowa Architect Editorial board since 2012, and maintains an active role with the AIA Central States Region after serving as the Regional Associate Director for the Emerging Professional's committee.



Justin Burnham, Assoc. AIA
Editorial Board Member

Burnham is a Northeast Iowa native. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State and a Master’s degree from MIT. He practices at Neumann Monson Architects studio in Des Moines, Iowa and has previously worked in Minneapolis and Boston. His interests include travel (balancing rural and urban trips) and working with his hands.




Renee Clarke, AIA
Editorial Board Member

Clarke is a licensed Architect with over twenty years of professional experience. She was born in Carroll, Iowa and received her Bachelor and Master of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota. She is currently working at Cannon Moss Brygger Architects in Sioux City, Iowa. Renee’s professional experience has focused on the design of Healthcare facilities. She also has an interest in sustainable architecture, historic preservation, and publishing.







A. Grant Nordby, Assoc. AIA
Editorial Board Member

Before joining Shive-Hattery as an intern architect, Nordby had worked in Omaha and Des Moines, researched daylight transport in New York, mapped power plant utilities, studied music, cleaned construction sites and delivered newspapers. He holds an MS in Architectural Sciences from RPI and a B Arch from ISU.








Katelyn Rutledge, Assoc. AIA
Editorial Board Member

Rutledge joined RDG Planning & Design as an architectural intern working in the healthcare and restoration markets. She has an undergraduate degree in Architecture and brings 2 years of architectural experience working with Main Street Iowa; helping communities understand design in a historic downtown. A skilled intern architect with exceptional design skills, Rudledge's passion for building details, aids project teams with design, document production and 3D visualization.
