DES MOINES, IA
– November 6, 2024 – The American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa) has released the latest report describing design and construction trends in the state. Twenty-five of the state’s architectural firms provided data on topics ranging from market sector fluctuations to active project delivery methods between July and September of this year.

The architectural profession is known to serve as an indicator for construction activity 9-12 months in advance. The purpose of this publication is to provide the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) community with specific and useful information at the state level.

Key Market Survey highlights for Quarter Three include:

  • Government projects were noted as the market sector with the most perceived growth. State or Local Governments also accounted for nearly one-third of the active client base.
  • Most firms identified that inquiries were steady or growing compared to last quarter. If more of these become full-fledged projects, billings and design contracts will improve in response.
  • Firm leaders are investigating the role of AI in the architectural field for the future. The general attitude is one of embracing the possibilities rather than fearing it.

The full analysis is available for purchase at AIA Iowa’s website, along with all previous iterations. 2024 Quarter 4 findings are set to be released in February.
