Glenwood Architect Elected to 2020 AIA Iowa Board

Glenwood, Iowa (January 2, 2020) – The American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa), has elected Pete Franks, AIA, Director of the AIA Iowa Board of Directors. A Pennsylvania native and well-rooted Iowa transplant, Pete is a graduate of the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning at the University of Cincinnati.  He has been a Registered Architect and AIA member since 1992.  His professional experience includes time with firms in Washington DC, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Omaha.  Pete is the president of The Franks Design Group, PC of Glenwood, Iowa; an architecture practice specializing in the appropriate treatment of existing and historic buildings.  Since the firm’s 2006 establishment, their historic work has been recognized by Main Street Iowa and Preservation Iowa.  Prior to joining the AIA Iowa Board in 2019, Pete’s professional and community service included presenting at multiple conferences and continuing education events, eight years as an elected school board member in southwest Iowa’s Mills County.
