The People’s Favorite Iowa Architecture

Des Moines, Iowa (April 30, 2018) –The American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa) is pleased to announce the winners of the third annual People’s Choice Award. Throughout the competition that lasted the month of April, the public had the opportunity to vote for architecture built by Iowa’s architects. The public could vote once per project per day through IowaArchitecture.org and at the end of the month, nearly 125,000 votes were counted.
The Top 3 People’s Choice Award Winners:
1) Southeastern Community College - Health Professions Center by DLR Group with 23648 votes
2) Prairie Ridge Integrated Behavioral Healthcare by Accord Architecture with 20950 votes
3) Storm Lake High School Addition and Renovation by DLR Group with 11186 votes
Twenty-eight projects were submitted for consideration by the community, including many schools and public buildings. This year saw a marked increase in community participation. Last year this program collected a total of 41,000 votes. In 2018, it soared to 125,000!
