How Architecture Helps You Find Your Way

Monday, August 7, 2017

Des Moines, IA (July 26, 2017) The American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa) welcomes their newest member display at their office in downtown Des Moines. Throughout the year, AIA Iowa will feature the work of member firms- a new firm each month. The new exhibitor, Klingner & Associates, P.C., created an exciting display showcasing something few of us rarely consider…as long as it is done well- Wayfinding.

Klingner explains, “Wayfinding creates easily identified spaces. Demarcated by shape, color, arrangement, or signage.” Their display showcases their work on the Quincy Public Schools in Quincy Illinois. The new K-5 elementary building includes classrooms, teaming areas, offices, music area, a cafeteria/kitchen, and more. Each area is connected and uses wayfinding techniques that allow students to easily identify spaces. Visit AIA Iowa soon to see the display. It will be open through the end of August.

Displays are open to the public at 400 Locust Street, Suite 100 and can be seen while visiting Cowles Commons. The public is also welcome to come in to the office to view the display during business hours- Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm.
