AIA Iowa Announces Emerging Professional Leadership
Des Moines, IA (March 15, 2017) The American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa) announces the appointment of several young leaders to AIA Iowa and regional committees. Each of these leaders is working toward licensure in architecture or has been licensed for less than 10 years.
Kayla Berkson, Assoc. AIA - CSR Regional Associate Director
Kayla is serving in 2017-2018 as the CSR Regional Associate Director, a position for an unlicensed professional within the region. She will serve as the Co-Chair of the CSR Emerging Professionals Committee, participate in monthly CSR conference calls, organize and lead CSR Emerging Professionals conference calls, and participate in the AIA Iowa Emerging Professionals Committee. Kayla will also develop programs and resources for the benefit of Emerging Professionals in the Central States Region, work to generate expanded interest in the profession and the AIA, work with the University Liaison and Professional Liaison to develop outreach programs for students and potential Associate members, and serve on sub-committees as needed. She will be representing the Central States Region at AIA Grassroots Leadership, AIA National Convention, the AIA Central States Region Conference, and on monthly conference calls. Kayla is past AIA Iowa Associate Director and Co-Chair of the Emerging Professionals Committee.
Nate Otis, AIA - CSR Young Architect State Representative (Iowa)
Nate is serving in 2017-2018 as the CSR Young Architect Representative from Iowa. As a Young Architect he is noted as an AIA member that has been professionally licensed less than 10 years. He will be participating in monthly CSR Emerging Professional conference calls, actively participating in AIA Iowa’s Young Architect Forum and Emerging Professionals Committees. He will represent the AIA Iowa Component by providing news updates, contributing content to the CSR Emerging Professionals website, social media, and will serve on sub-committees as needed. Nate will be attending the AIA Central States Region Conference and Central States Annual Business meeting as well as monthly conference calls.
Jarrod Siegel, Assoc. AIA – AIA Iowa Associate Director
Jarrod is serving in 2017 as the AIA Iowa Associate Director on the AIA Iowa Board of Directors. He serves as the voice of the Associate members at the state level and works beside other AIA Iowa Board members to further the mission of AIA Iowa and support the AIA Iowa Strategic Plan. In this role, Jarrod is also the Co-Chair of the AIA Iowa Emerging Professionals Committee. The purpose of this committee is to support Associate AIA members and AIA members considered Young Architects (licensed to practice architecture fewer than 10 years) through mentorship, guidance, information, and a network for intellectual and social interaction.
Kate Thuesen, AIA – Central States Region Young Architect Regional Director
Kate is serving 2017-2018 as the CSR Young Architect Regional Director. She serves as a resource by providing regional best practices for dissemination to other Components, serves on Young Architects Forum sub-committees and on the AIA Iowa Emerging Professionals Committee and Iowa Young Architects Forum She will be representing the Central States Region at AIA Grassroots Leadership, AIA National Convention, the AIA Central States Region Conference, and on monthly conference calls.
Kevin Wagner, Assoc. AIA – AIA Iowa Young Architects Forum
Kevin is the chair of the AIA Iowa Young Architects Forum, this group’s purpose is to promote leadership, mentorship, and fellowship for the future of the profession. The Forum’s activities have helped to further the awareness of the profession and brought together many Young Architects. Kevin is a past AIA Iowa Associate Director.
Kevin is also the CSR Associate State Representative for Iowa.
He will represent AIA Iowa in the Central States Region. Kevin will be participating in monthly CSR Emerging Professional conference calls and actively participate in AIA Iowa Emerging Professionals Committee. Kevin will also represent the AIA Iowa Component by providing news updates, contributing content to the CSR Emerging Professionals website, social media, and will serve on sub-committees as needed. Kevin will be attending the AIA Central States Region Conference and Central States Annual Business meeting.
