This course will provide an overview of the litigation experience and provide guidance on minimizing risk. Particular issues will include common pitfalls in selecting insurance coverage, document retention policies, and key contract provisions to limit liability.
By attending this seminar, participants will be able to do the following:
1. Compare and contrast details of policies to make a more informed decision in choosing an insurance policy.
2. Evaluate provisions in a contract designed to limit liability.
3. Identify internal policies that will be useful in the event of litigation.
4. Breakdown basic legal terms related to venue and jurisdiction.

David Nelmark is a shareholder in litigation group of Belin McCormick, practicing primarily in the areas of complex commercial cases, intellectual property, and appeals. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants, and his litigation experience includes contract disputes, fraud, personal injury, wrongful death, libel, defamation, copyright infringement, patent infringement, trademark infringement, false advertising, and the Lanham Act. He also applies for and maintains copyright and trademark registrations for clients of the firm.
David is a graduate of Drake University and Stanford Law School. Prior to joining Belin McCormick, he served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Michael J. Melloy of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in 2005-2006. He is the immediate Past President of the American Mock Trial Association.
