Ongoing Performance: Feedback for Enhanced Energy Operations

Ongoing Performance is a continuation of the Commercial New Construction program, helping to maximize energy efficiency over time.  Building owners and their design teams are able to compare their actual energy usage with an energy model that is tuned to current hours, occupancy, usage and building characteristics. Design teams obtain feedback about how their building is operating compared to energy model expectations.  Furthermore, owners and design teams can use ongoing performance energy modeling to evaluate new equipment or operational strategies before purchase and installation to test cost-effectiveness.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Learn the financial and environmental value of feedback through energy modeling and benchmarking in the operational phases of a building.

2. Explore opportunities to achieve greater energy savings in the ongoing operation of recently completed buildings.

3. Gain knowledge about reducing the energy operating cost of a building by using ongoing performance energy models to guide implementation of strategies with the best return on investment.

4. Experience results from case study examples of two Midwest utility pilot programs from 2012 and 2013.
