Identifying Energy Strategies with The Weidt Group

Program Description:
Identifying energy efficiency strategies for projects while trying to balance real world constraints like budget can be challenging. This workshop/charrette encourages participants to do just that by looking at the energy savings of 6 example strategies relative to overall building performance. While a simplified scenario, the exercise demonstrates the discussions and considerations of real world projects participating in the Commercial New Construction Program offered by Alliant Energy, Black Hills Energy and MidAmerican Energy Company.

Learning objectives include:
1. Recognize the value early energy analysis provides to the design process and client decision-making
2. Identify a range of energy-efficiency options and their impacts on energy outcomes during various stages of design
3. Interpret building performance and financial information provided by energy analysis results including lifecycle costs
4. Understand how decisions made very early in pre-design can increase energy savings opportunities

The Weidt Group is registered with the American Institute of Architects' Continuing Education System (AIA/CES) and is committed to developing quality learning activities in accordance with AIA/CES criteria. AIA Members will receive 1 Learning Unit (LU/HSW), which will be reported directly to the CES for them. Those who wish to receive credit will need to have their AIA membership numbers available at the time of the seminar.
