AIA Iowa BSAFE Program earns Award

The AIA Iowa BSAFE program has been recognized again! On Sunday, August 9, Jessica Reinert accepted a CACE Collaboration Award from the American Institute of Architects Council of Architectural Component Executives (CACE) at the annual CACE Awards Banquet in Detroit, MI. This honor was given for a program ‘which shows the power of partnerships and collaboration to gain far reaching results’. Thanks again for all AIA Iowa members who are involved in this incredible effort!

Reinert Elected to Serve AIA

At the 2015 AIA Council for Architectural Component Executives (CACE) annual meeting in Detroit Jessica Reinert, Hon. AIA Iowa; AIA Iowa’s Executive Director; was elected to serve as Vice President of the CACE Executive Committee 2016-2017.

Reinert second from left; with other members of the CACE Executive Committee

Here is a snippet from her speech: I pledge to represent CACE as an association management professional and to represent the aggregate views of both CACE and AIA members. I value CACE for its sharing of concepts, experiences, and information- which I believe make it an invaluable resource and a large part of why the AIA is successful. If elected, I would embody these attributes of collective knowledge by acting as a conduit of shared information among CACE leadership and members, as well as AIA leadership and its members.

A Taste of Iowa Architecture: Iowa Architectural Foundation Fall Fundraiser

Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company
309 Court Avenue, Des Moines
Saturday, October 17, 12:00-4:00pm

The Iowa Architectural Foundation (IAF) invites participants to enjoy an afternoon of exploration. Come support the IAF by enjoying appetizers and drinks from Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Company, while bidding on silent auction items and partaking in a special “Taste of Iowa Architecture” Scavenger Hunt. “Taste of Iowa Architecture” is a new outreach initiative of the IAF’s Architecture in the Community committee.

Committee members have compiled a customizable, Iowa road map highlighting historic buildings which now boast some of the finest and most unique eateries across the state, including Court Avenue Restaurant. This fun scavenger hunt will give participants an opportunity to experience the downtown Des Moines section of the map, while also unveiling, for the first time, the new IAF website. A fantastic first place prize will be awarded to the winners of the scavenger hunt. Stop by the IAF booth at Convention to learn what it is and to see the other great Silent Auction items that will be up for bid. Tickets are $35 in advance and are limited. Purchase your tickets here. All proceeds benefit the Iowa Architectural Foundation’s education and outreach programs.

Can’t attend the event but still want to bid on the Silent Auction? Visit Carolyn at the IAF’s booth on the Grand Concourse to see to learn how. Auction items will be up for bid through the event on the 17th.
