Year in Review: AIA Iowa Accomplishments
2015 was a very successful year for AIA Iowa due to the amazing dedication of volunteer members and the assistance of the AIA Iowa staff. Our component's efforts helped to increase the awareness of architects and architecture in Iowa and provided much value to you, as an AIA Iowa Member, by engaging in projects that enhance the profession. Together the AIA Iowa staff has put together a document “Year in Review 2015” that highlights all of the things that took place in 2015. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all our volunteers who made these undertakings possible. We are looking forward for another successful year in 2016!
The 2016 Legislative session will start on January 11th, the full calendar can be found here, www.legis.iowa.gov. Even though we are five weeks away, it is never too early to start building a relationship with your legislator. A simple email, telephone call, or personal visit is the key to getting your voice heard on issues that are important to you and the architectural profession.
Step 1: Find your legislators and reach out to them to express your thoughts on issues that are important to you.
Step 2: Mark your calendars for February 29th, Design Professionals Day on the Hill. Join us at the Capitol to continue advocating for the architecture industry including the restructuring of the Statute of Repose, terminology surrounding the licensure of architects, and Board of Regents issue.
