Architects Recognized for Public Service in Iowa City

Iowa City, Iowa (April 3, 2017) – Two local architects and members of the American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa) have been recognized for their service to the community of Iowa City.  They are participants in the AIA Iowa Citizen Architect Program sponsored by AIA Iowa:

 

Todd McNall, AIA, of Design and Construction, University of Iowa in Iowa City was appointed Commissioner and serves as Vice Chair of the Cedar Rapids Historic Preservation Commission. The Historic Preservation Commission initiates historic preservation studies designed to identify and preserve the City’s historic building resources. The Commission also reviews and approves applications for Certificates of Appropriateness in local historic districts and local historic landmarks and makes recommendations on National Register of Historic Places nominations and local historic district designation. Todd also sits on the Czech Village New Bohemia Main Street Board and is a Trustee for the Brucemore Estate National Trust site.

 

Martha Norbeck, AIA, of C-Wise Design and Consulting in Iowa City was elected Secretary of U.S. Green Building Council- Iowa Chapter (USGBC Iowa). The USGBC is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable building design and construction. The organization works to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, financially sustainable and healthy places to live and work. As Secretary, Martha records meeting minutes and participates in additional executive board responsibilities. In addition to serving as secretary, she is committed to promoting participation the B3 Energy Benchmarking program for public buildings.
