Architects Recognized for Public Service in Dubuque

Dubuque, Iowa (April 1, 2016) – Three local architects and members of the American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter (AIA Iowa) have been recognized for their service to the community of Dubuque.  They are participants in the AIA Iowa Citizen Architect Program sponsored by AIA Iowa:

Kevin Eipperle, AIA, of FEH DESIGN serves as Board Member of the Foundation for Dubuque's Public Schools. The Foundation exists to secure funding for programs and services that are beyond the capacity of the school district's ability, or outside their budget. Eipperle is responsible for managing endowment plan fundraising events, submitting for grants, providing a vessel for contributions, and promoting programs for students who have great need. He currently the chair of the Governance and Nominations Committee.


Emily Hilgendorf, Assoc. AIA, of FEH Design was appointed to Commissioner of the City of Dubuque’s Historic Preservation Commission. The City of Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission is made up of 9 citizens serving 3 year terms. Hilgendorf’s responsibilities as a commissioner are to review projects in the historic districts for compliance with the historic design guidelines adopted by the City of Dubuque as well as promoting educational programs to spread the word about the benefits and values of historic properties.


Christina Monk, AIA, of FEH Design was appointed Chairperson and Licensed Architect of the Dubuque Historic Preservation Commission. The nine-member commission was appointed by the Dubuque City Council and tasked with promoting and conducting educational and interpretive programs on historic properties within its jurisdiction.  Monk is responsible for presiding over monthly meetings, conducting design reviews, participating in educational opportunities hosted by the commission, and offering an architect's opinion regarding designs.
