Iowa Celebrates Architecture Month in April
Events across the State Promote the Beauty and Importance of Architecture
Des Moines, Iowa (April 1, 2016) –The American Institute of Architects, Iowa Chapter announced today the celebration of April as Iowa Architecture Month intended to exemplify the importance, beauty, and significance of architecture. Numerous statewide initiatives have been planned to celebrate this annual event, including the signing of a State Proclamation by Governor Terry Branstad that occurred on March 24th, architectural workshops, tours, films, lecture series and the brand new People’s Choice Award.
This year, AIA Iowa is launching its inaugural People’s Choice Award to promote architecture and to encourage appreciation and interaction. AIA Iowa invites the public to serve as the jury and to judge architecture built by Iowa architects throughout the month of April. Anyone can vote once per project per day at IowaArchitecture.org. Winners will be announced at the end of the month!
In addition to the new People’s Choice Award, AIA Iowa has planned events that promote the exploration of Iowa’s architectural treasures.
