Iowa Architect Elected to National Board

Des Moines, IA– October 28, 2015 – AIA Iowa member Terry L. Allers, AIA, of Allers Associates Architects P.C. in Fort Dodge, IA, was elected secretary of the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) at its 96th Annual Business Meeting. Allers has been a member of AIA Iowa since 1974 and has previously served on AIA Iowa committees.
Most recently, Allers served as the director of the Council’s Mid-Central States Conference (Region 4), which represents Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
“NCARB plays an invaluable role within the architectural community, and I am excited about continuing my Board service in support of the Council’s mission,” Allers said.
Since 2006, Allers has served on multiple NCARB committees, including the Broadly Experienced Architects Committee, where he participated in the effort to convert the application and approval process to a computer-based system; and the Committee on Education, where he participated in NCARB’s review of the 2012 Practice Analysis. He also previously served as the Region 4 vice chair and secretary/treasurer, and was a member of the NAAB/NCARB Accreditation Team Pool.
Allers was appointed to the Iowa Board of Architectural Examiners in 2005, serving terms as chair and vice chair. He is founder and president of Allers Associates Architects, PC, a full service architectural firm located in Fort Dodge, IA, serving Iowa and Minnesota. An active volunteer in the Fort Dodge community, Allers was recognized by the Fort Dodge Area Chamber of Commerce with the presentation of the Catalyst Award in 2012.
Allers received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Iowa State University in 1970 and is licensed in Iowa and Minnesota.
