AIA Issues Foresight Report on the Key Trends in Architecture Marketplace

 

Des Moines, IA (August 27, 2014) – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) has issued its annual foresight report in cooperation with Greenway Group. The report highlights key trends in the architecture marketplace including the ever-growing role of technology and the integration of the virtual and physical environments. This report is a research tool that anticipates shifts in the future practice of architecture. Architecture firms can use this tool to develop solutions fitting to their experience and vision.

 

Some of the key points in the AIA Foresight Report include:

  •  Anticipated growth across North America for 2014 and 2015
  • And increase of merger and acquisition activities among architecture firms
  • An addition of approximately 18,600 architecture jobs in the US economy
  • The need to attract and retain talent by use of flexible work hours, better work/life balance, enticing work environments, and more
  • A shift in the role of the user and client in the design process, indicated by crowdfunding and crowdsourcing
  • The important responsibility of architecture to positively impact public health
