Philip Simpson graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1981 and has worked primarily on educational and institutional projects throughout his professional career. He is the Assistant Vice President for Facilities Planning at the University of Northern Iowa, where he is responsible for the planning, design and construction for the institution since 2014. He is currently working on the Campus Master Plan for UNI and the $33 million renovation of the Schindler Education Center. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Director for Facilities Planning for 20 years at the University of Colorado Boulder. In that role he was responsible for capital projects from inception through design development, including capital planning and entitlements, responsible for the planning of more than $480 million of capital projects on the Boulder campus and he also led the process and wrote the 2010 Campus Master Plan for CU-Boulder.
Mr. Simpson has been a SCUP member since 1996 and served on the Pacific Regional Council from 2008 to 2014 where he held various roles. He was the Chair of the 2009 Pacific Regional Conference, served as Program Chair for three years and as Pacific Regional Representative for two years.
