A site visit to the Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium’s $73M, 28-acre African Grasslands project, the largest construction project in the history of the zoo. The development includes the Elephant Family Quarters, African Lodge, and Giraffe Herd Rooms.
Please bring a hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest. Closed-toe shoes are required as this is an active construction site.
1. Introduction to the challenges of the human/animal interface and need for natural environment.
2. Understand phasing requirements for construction of all facilities within an operating zoo.
3. Design features of the entire facility including guest and keeper areas.
4. Interactive educational opportunities for zoo visitors.
