This year’s AIA Spring Conference focused on exposing the processes behind making great architecture. A number of talented architects shared how their projects develop from the first client contact to the final project photography. They discussed step by step how a work came into being, highlighting the initial client vision, discussing the ideas that were scrapped along the way, and revealing the man hours spent to get a detail just right.
Iowa Architect magazine will continue the conversation on design process by devoting the fall issue to sharing the development of the work we do. In addition to marketing photography of recently completed work, send us schematic sketches, programming diagrams, computer renderings, detail drawings, or construction photos - anything that marks a milestone in the project and will help tell the story of the incredible amount of work that happens between napkin sketch and opening day.
Please send project documentation and descriptions that illustrates the process of a project from conception to completion. Also include a complete list of field subcontractors and product suppliers with each submission.
To have your project considered the entry must be received by Friday, June 26, 2015.
Please submit the following via IowaArchitecture.org:
- A brief, 200-word description of the project
- Project credits for each project
- One high resolution floor plan of each project
- Other high resolution descriptive drawings of each project
- 5 or more professional digital images for each project (300dpi @ 8"x10" minimum)
