Seminar Description:

Build your non-graphic design skills by diving into tools and techniques to make your project achieve success with specifications and code. Learn from Ann Sobiech Munson of Substance Architecture, Brian Bishop of City of Des Moines, Kerry Dixon of Iowa State University and Mindy Aust of Substance Architecture as they walk through the case study of the 2016 Iowa State University Marston Hall Renovation.

Learning Objectives

1. Understanding the impacts of code review in the early stages of a project, How and when to engage the code authority early in the design process

2. Use Preliminary Project Descriptions (PPDs) to document systems and assemblies in early phases of design

3. Learn how the preliminary code review process was used on an existing building; Learn different techniques and organization during the specification period to help your project succeed

4. Understand the relationship between PPDs, organized according to UniFormat, and detailed technical specifications, organized according to MasterFormat
