The internship development program (IDP) was started as a profession-wide, comprehensive program that contributes to the development of competent architects who can provide exemplary architectural services.

The Intern Development Program (IDP) is a set of resources that, when used in a systematic manner throughout the internship period, contributes to the development of competent architects.
IDP Training Requirements and Objectives
IDP helps you achieve comprehensive exposure to architectural practice. To satisfy this requirement, you must complete specific periods of training in four major categories: design and construction documents, construction contract administration, management, and related activities (professional and community service). And must fall into categories listed below:

The Architect Registration Examination (ARE) assesses candidates for their knowledge, skills, and ability to provide the various services required in the practice of architecture. The ARE is the only examination prepared by NCARB and has been adopted for use by all 54 U.S. member boards and the Canadian provincial architectural associations as the registration examination required of all candidates for architectural registration.

Contract Documents
AIA Contract Documents comprise over 100 forms and conracts that define relationships and terms inolved in design and construction projects. Prepared by the AIA with the consensus of owners, contractors, attorneys, architects, engineers, and others, the documents have been finely tuned during their 115 year history. As a result, these comprehensive contracts and forms are now widely recognized as the industry standard.
