As part of our community of local architect members, AIA Iowa membership includes a category for Local Allied Members. Individuals who do not hold a degree in architecture, but share a special interest in the built environment as a professional colleague or enthusiast. - Allied Members will support AIA Iowa through funds, committee participation, and advocacy for the architectural profession, education, public relations efforts and legislative issues.

Events

Allied Fall Social
The Allied Fall Social was held on Thursday, September 2 at the first Iowa State University football game of the season. Activities include a tailgate dinner from the Branding Iron, beer tasting from Olde Main Brewery, and tickets to the football game, ISU vs. N. IL. This event was free to all AIA Iowa Architect members compliments of the Sponsoring Allied Members listed below. Cyclone's beat Northern Illinois 27 to 10. There were over 100 people in attendance and a great time was had by all. Thank you to the sponsors listed below for making this event possible and to all of those who attended.
Congratulations to the following door prize winners: Natalie Carran, Assoc. AIA and Eric Wessels, AIA both received Full Convention Registrations; William Catrenich, Assoc. AIA, Carey Nagle, AIA, and Michelle Sacco all received $100 Ca$h; and Terry Allers, AIA and Jeff Wiseman, AIA both recieved thermal mugs.

Allied Spring Social
The Allied Spring Social was held Thursday, May 20 at the beautiful McCord Indoor Club Lounge at Kinnick Stadium on the University of Iowa Campus in Iowa City at 5:30p.m. There were nearly 70 people in attendance. The highlight of the event was the tour of the visitor's locker room. It was a great time to network with Architects and Allied members outside of the workplace. Hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, cookies, iced tea, lemonade and beer were served for dinner. Congratulations to Greg Sundberg, AIA, Kevin Monson, AIA, and Bradley Fritz, AIA, they each won a door prize of a $100 bill.

For the fourth year-in-a-row a group of AIA Iowa Allied Members formed a team to participate in the 2010 Central Iowa Canstruction. Their theme was a house from the movie "UP". The group won Honorable Mention. Congratulations!
